CHIKOMBA — Police is appealing for information leading to the identification of a lone gunman who robbed Chivhu East and Lick outlet of US$807 on Monday morning.
Mashonaland East Police Assistant Spokesperson Misheck Denhere confirmed the incident to The Mirror.
He said the armed robber was wearing a black and yellow wood jacket and could not be identified on the CCTV.
Circumstances are that the lone gunman bought a 500ml Fanta drink at 3am. He was served by Tadiwa Zimhondi (18). The man produced a pistol when Zimhondi opened the cash register.
Zimhondi screamed and ran away from the shop. The armed robber emptied the cash register and went away.
A report was filed at Chivhu Police Station. CCTV footage could not identify the armed robber.
“We urge members of the business community to bank their money regularly and avoid keeping huge sums at workplaces. We are also appealing for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the perpetrators,” said Denhere.
