CHIKOMBA — Provisional Magistrate Thomas Gurajena has postponed the trial of a Chitungwiza man who was arrested with 19kgs of dagga in Chivhu last Wednesday.
Brighton Makoni (42) of Unit K, Chitungwiza was arrested after a South Africa bound Meizon bus was stopped for a random search at a roadblock on the 103km peg along the Harare – Masvingo Highway near Featherstone.
Circumstances are that officers manning the roadblock stopped the bus and began searching passengers’ luggage.
It is then that the officers came across a bag with four plastics bags containing dagga. The bus conductor told them that the bag belonged to Makoni.
The officers requested Makoni’s permit to carry dagga and they arrested him after he failed to produce the permit. The dagga weighed 19.7kgs.
