CHIKOMBA—Mvuma-based model Eldah Wadzanai Chitate (31) was appointed the Environment Management Agency (EMA) brand ambassador. Chitate will be the brand ambassador until the 2024 pageant.
The 2023 Miss Environment pageant was held in Kariba last week, where Chitate was appointed the Brand Ambassador. The pageant had 17 models.
Pauline Marere was crowned Miss Environment, and she walked away US$5 000 richer and received a brand new vehicle. She will also represent the country at the International Miss Environment pageant, slated for India later this year.
Chitate, who began modelling in 2020, won the title after carrying out two projects, a solid waste management educational campaign in Mvuma and establishing clubs across schools that maintain illegal dumpsites and plant trees.
Her projects were under the theme; ‘Giving life on land’.
She began modelling in 2020 and has participated in several pageants like the Miss African Union (2021) and Miss Universe (2022). She faced financial constraints to compete regionally after winning the national competitions.
“I am happy I participated at the Miss Environment Zimbabwe 2023 grand finale and was adjudged Brand Ambassador. It’s a huge step for me. l am aiming to be an international brand ambassador,” said Chitate.
Apart from modelling, she recently graduated with a Master’s in Development Studies. She is a district water and sanitation subcommittee chair and heads a child justice organisation.
