Chiredzi –  There are several grade 7 schools in Chiredzi whose pass rates surpassed 90% in the 2021 Zimsec exam results, according to a survey by The Mirror.

Ranking the schools from number 1 to 10 is difficult because of a number of factors including the total number of candidates and enrolment of special needs pupils in some schools.

For example, there is one school in the district that has 100% pass rate but it had just one candidate. There is also a school that got 94% but its results are affected by special needs pupils at the school.

Chiredzi Government is among the top 10 schools in the district. It had   93.4% pass rate and 136 pupils. The school’s deputy head, Monaliso Marindo said the results are slightly lower than 2020 because of special needs pupils.

Hippo Valley Primary School, a private boarding school recorded 100% pass rate and had 22 pupils who sat for the exams.

Chionja Primary school which is situated in Gonarezhou Transfrontier Park recorded 100% pass rate after one pupil sat for the exams and passed.

Mary Mcdougal in Triangle recorded 96.9% and it had 33 candidates. Kamba Primary also of Triangle recorded 94.7% pass rate and 154 pupils sat for the grade 7 results.

At least 6 schools in Chiredzi recorded zero percent pass rate and one of them is Dhavhata.

District Schools Inspector Petronella Nyangwe said she was still busy with the results analysis when The Mirror contacted her for a comment.https://masvingomirror.com
