CHIREDZI – Chiredzi Rural District Council (RDC) has scooped gold again at the just ended Lowveld Annual Agricultural Show held in the sugarcane growing town last week.
The award was in the councils’ sector. The local authority has dominated the awards over the last decade, only failing last year when it did not exhibit.
Vimbainashe Kwirihwiri, the council’s Administrator and Systems Officer attributed the award to focus, dedication and hard work. She said the most notable programme by the council is the alleviation of water shortages for villagers caused by el Nino and climate change
“I think the reason why we continue to win is because of our determination and hardwork. We work tirelessly to deliver service and this is one thing that distinguishes us from the rest.
“We have a number of developmental projects we are implementing to reduce the negative impact of Elnino and one of them include drilling of boreholes in all our 32 wards, so that communities will not have water shortage,” said Kwirihwiri.
