CHIREDZI – Ephraim Haisa (51) of Village 6 Bankala under Chief Neromwe died yesterday morning after he was stabbed five times with an Okapi at a traditional beer drink.
They were having the drink at the homestead of 61-year old Margaret Nyamusiiwa.
The suspect Andrew Gupani (31) of the same Village was arrested at the scene. The incident happened at around 6pm on Wednesday and Haisa who was taken to Chiredzi District Hospital died on Thursday morning.
Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson, Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the case to The Mirror and urged people to resolve their differences without resorting to violence.
Sources said that Gupani was drinking beer outside a hut with a friend Andrew Vengesai when Haisa arrived. They invited Haisa to join them but because of previous misunderstandings Haisa allegedly took a stick and hit Andrew on the arm with it.
The suspect drew out a knife from his pocket and stabbed Haisa thrice on the chest and twice on the back and he dropped onto the ground where he bled profusely.
