CHIREDZI – A man from Bongo Cone, Masangula in Mwenezi has been remanded in prison on three counts of stealing scotch carts and seven counts of stealing donkeys. He allegedly stole a total of 11 donkeys on seven different occasions. Aron Matemba (40) appeared before Provincial Magistrate Vimbai Mutukwa.

His alleged accomplice Solomon Mahutse is on the run. Matemba who pleaded guilty to some of the charges said he was severely assaulted by villagers who apprehended him.The State said on June 11 2024, Matemba stole a scotch cart and four donkeys from Knowledge Kwangwari’s of Village 5B Triangle.

On the same day he stole two donkeys from Matavire Enest who stay at Uswaushava area.On the second count he stole a donkey from Zvamauya. On the same day he stole Mativenga Efeso’s scotch cat and he denied the offense.On June 15, 2024, he stole a scotch cart from Martin Marapira of Village 1 Triangle.

On the same day he stole two donkeys belonging to Munyaradzi Makushi at Uswaushava village.On the seventh count Matemba stole two donkeys which belonged to Masimba Amos at village 4B Triangle.Edwin Homera prosecuted.
