MASVINGO-Police in Chiredzi have launched a manhunt for Tongai Ingwani (37) who allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend’s lover on the thighs leading to his death, Masvingo Police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa has said.
Ingwani from Rangani Village, Chief Chitanga in Chiredzi stabbed Lebon Chitsutsu (35) of Mabhila Village under Chief Chilonga, Chiredzi on Sunday evening at Mtomani Business Centre at around 11 pm.
He stabbed Chitsutsu after he found him in a compromising position with his ex-girlfriend on a shop verandah
Dhewa said on the fateful day Ingwani saw Chitsutsu and his ex-girlfriend on a shop verandah and he allegedly became jealousy.
Ingwani then allegedly confronted Chitsutsu accusing him of snatching his girlfriend and the two exchanged words.
The accused then grabbed Chitsutsu by the collar, fouled him to the ground and stabbed him four times on the thighs. Chitsutsu freed himself from Ingwani’s grip but he was bleeding profusely. The girlfriend hid in the shop and Ingwani did not attack her.
Chitsutsu’s lifeless body was found lying near the shops by passersby’s on Monday at around 6 am and a Police report was filed at ZRP Chambuta Post. The body was taken to Chiredzi District Hospital for postmortem.
