CHIREDZI – Environmental Management Agency (EMA) Chiredzi District Environmental Officer (DEO) Peter Mugodhi has retired.
He left EMA on August 31, 2023, after serving the parastatal for 19 years.
Mugodhi confirmed his retirement to The Mirror.
“Yes it’s true, I retired on August 31, the same day I celebrated my 65th birthday,” he said.
He joined EMA formerly the Department of Natural Resources in 2004.
Mugodhi said he looks back at his tenure with pride having accomplished several projects.
“During my tenure as a DEO, I can point to a lot of achievements which include putting to an end illegal mining, raising awareness on hygiene and championing the introduction of contours to end soil erosion.
“There is a program in the Guluji area where villagers are planting vertical grass as a measure to end soil erosion,” said Mugodhi.
Before joining EMA, Mugodhi worked as a teacher at various schools such as Holy Cross, Hippo Valley High Schools in Chiredzi and Masvingo Barracks 4.1 Secondary School.
He also worked as a lecturer at Morgenster and Masvingo Teacher Colleges.
Mugodhi is a holder of an STC Diploma in Education from Gweru Teachers College, a Diploma in Agriculture from Chibero Agricultural College and a Degree in Agriculture from Solusi University.
