CHIREDZI-Chiredzi Town Council (CTC) has completed interviewing prospective candidates for the post of town secretary, which fell vacant in October 2021, town chairman, Alderman Gibson Hwende has said. They held interviews on Monday.
He said the successful candidate would be presented to people after a full council meeting adopts the motion.
The seat fell vacant after the death of Charles Muchatukwa, who succumbed to COVID-19. He served as town secretary for 16 years.
“I can confirm that the council would appoint a substantive town secretary. Residents will know the successful candidate after a full council meeting,” said Hwende.
The full council meeting will be held in the last week of June 2023.
“The full council meeting is in the last week of the month, so after the full council meeting,” said Hwende.
Council Engineer Wesley Kauma has been the acting town secretary since October 2021.
