CHIREDZI – The Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing July Moyo has approved Chiredzi Town Council’s $2 326 198 573. 00 budget, The Mirror has confirmed.
Chiredzi town secretary, Wesley Kauma confirmed the development and said soon they will start implementing the new tariffs.
The local authority also expects $189, 9m for devolution from Government.
‘Yes the budget has been approved and very soon we will start implementing the new tariffs,” said Kauma.
The 2022 budget has increased four-fold from the 2021 budget which stood at $456,349m.
Priority projects for 2022 are water and sanitation, roads rehabilitation and acquisition of equipment for service delivery.
The council will push to meet its targets this year after two years in which Covid19 became a serious impediment to business, said Khama.
“Our budget performance in 2021 was at 40% mainly because we got challenges from COVID-19 lockdowns,” said Kauma.https://masvingomirror.com
