CHIPINGE – Chipinge Town Council budget consultation meetings will start on Monday, October 23, 2023, according to a notice to stakeholders.
On Wednesday, the council held a budget review meeting at the NSSA building where issues discussed included the 2023 budget performance, water supply, urban renewal, sewer and road rehabilitation.
The meeting was attended by less than 30 people and these include council employees and members of residents associations among others.
Chipinge district chamber of Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Public Relations Officer Godwill Mlambo said whatever they were discussing at the meeting is a nullity due to the absence of councillors.
“When there are no councillors, whatever we will be discussing is a nullity, council workers operate the way they wish. The meeting was dictatorial, we were denied a chance to ask or contribute during the current budget review meeting,” said Mlambo.
Efforts to get a comment from Acting Chipinge Town Secretary James Mutemera were fruitless.
