Chipinge man arrested with 4 lion teeth


CHIPINGE – A game ranger at Humani Range in Chiredzi has been arrested by the Police after he was allegedly found selling a set of four lion teeth with a value of US$20 000.

Cardy Mungodo (47) who comes from Rimbi Business Centre, Gadzingo Village under Chief Musikavanhu, Chipinge was arrested on August 23, 2020.

Detective Assistant Inspector Vincent Chikuvadze confirmed the arrest to Chipinge Times.

Chipinge Times is told that detectives received information to the effect that the accused was in possession of lion teeth which are regarded as trophies and was looking for a buyer.
On the same day at around 12:50pm the accused met disguised Police detectives and he boarded their vehicle after which he produced the teeth from his pocket.

Police officers then introduced themselves and arrested him.
ZimParks Birchenough Bridge Investigations Officer Peter Villa confirmed that the teeth were genuine with a value of US$20 000.
