CHIPINGE – Former Chipinge District School Inspector, Richard Gabaza has been promoted to Director Education Services (Manicaland Province).
Chipinge community including Government heads of departments and school heads bade farewell to Gabaza at a party held at Chipinge Junior School on Monday
Dignitaries who attended the farewell include the District Development Coordinator William Mashava and Officer Commanding Chipinge District (Dispol) Superintendent Godwill Chinyanganya.
The promotion is with effect from January, this year.
Gabaza attributed the promotion to his personal dedication and commitment to duty and courtesy of the hard work of Chipinge and Buhera districts where he was District Schools Inspector and District Education Officer respectively.
“I attribute the promotion to my dedication to duty particularly when I headed Buhera and then Chipinge. My PED Manicaland Province, Mr Edward Shumba is my mentor. He mentored me into that post,” said Gabaza.
Gabaza who was DSI for Chipinge for five years from late 2016 to late 2021 was promoted to acting Provincial Education Director and ran the province for almost a year to September 2022. He then acted as deputy Provincial Education Director, a post which was changed to Director Education Services (DES) from late 2022 to January 2024.
Before transferring to Chipinge, Gabaza was Buhera DEO from January 2014 to late 2016.
He attained a Master of Education degree in English Language obtained from GZU in 2011. He is a holder of a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication studies (ZOU) and Degree program in Educational Management with ZOU. He also has a Diploma in Education obtained at Mutare Teachers College.
Gabaza is former head at Tanganda-run school Ratelshoek Secondary school in Chipinge and deputy head at Beacon High in Chipinge.
He worked at several schools including Mafumise, Chipinge Junior and Gwenzi Secondary in Chipinge.
He did A’ level at St Faith High and O’ level at Vengere High in Rusape.
