Chipinge council workers lose property in $329 596 thefts

CHIPINGE- Two suspected thieves ransacked Chipinge houses including those belonging to some senior council employees and stole goods valued at RTGS$329 596.
The suspects also stole from cars.
Tinashe Manandi (23) and Wisdom Mtisi (20) appeared before Chipinge Magistrate Franklin Mkwananzi last week facing 12 counts of unlawful entry and theft charges.
They were sentenced to 18 years and 5 months in prison after pleading guilty to the charges. An accomplice, only identified as Promise is still at large.
Prosecutor, Deliah Kataziye said the two stole from Chipinge Rural District Council Social Services officer Microt Mudodo (50), property worth $12 450.
They also stole from Chipinge Town Council internal auditor Promise Ngani (33)’s car.
They also stole from Makocheredze Primary teacher Godfrey Tapiwa Dhliwayo (57).
The other complainants include Rhoda Tandangu (23) of Moorplats compound, Wiseman Zimama (25) of low density who is a waiter at Daura lodge, Charity Mhlanga (21), Abraham Sithole (40), Oscar Mafenya (28), Chomunoda Anhawani (42), Patience Bhoko (34), Daniel Mlambo (40) and Themba Maphosa (34).
Property valued at $142 337 was recovered.
