He said the project will be rolled out in three phases of 100 megawatts each.
“Currently, preliminary research and consultation work as well as the GIA Grid impact assessment report are underway, the application will be submitted to the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) before October. The shortage of electricity has had a significant impact on the company’s production. Therefore, the company plans to build a thermal power plant within Indarama Mine in three phases with each phase being 100 Megawatts.
The construction of the power plant will greatly improve the power supply to the surrounding miners and general public. We implemented all our projects using revenue from the mine we do not borrow money from the bank and the projects have amounted to more than US$ 30 million so far,” he said.
