Chimanimani prophet ‘rapes’ minor as mother goes to the fields

Chipinge – Despite all the hospitality, a Chimanimani prophet (25) allegedly raped a minor at a homestead where he was given a room to stay.

Innocent Sanyamandwe allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl after the two were left together at home when the mother had gone out to the fields.

The girl who was allegeldy raped from her mother’s bedroom was left with blood running down from her private parts and tears on her cheeks. She reported the matter to a neighbor.

Sanyamandwe who resides at Tiya Village under Chief Muusha in Chimanimani appeared before Chipinge Regional Magistrate Elizabeth Hanzi facing rape charges.

He pleaded guilty and was denied bail after it was established that he could interfere with witnesses because the two went to the same church.

Prosecutor Patience Matereke said on November 7, 2020 Sanyamandwe took advantage of the absence of the complainant’s parent and forced her into sexual intercourse.

“On November 7, 2020 at 9am, the complainant’s mother went to the field and left the minor with the prophet. The prophet had been accommodated by the family for three days.

“At around 1pm the complainant went to her mother’s bedroom to collect clothes for washing when the prophet followed her and blocked the door from inside using a wooden chair.

“The accused forced the minor onto the floor, removed her skirt, lowered her pants to the feet and had sexual intercourse with her.

After the act, the accused slipped out of the house and went away leaving the girl lying down in tears,” said the prosecutor.

She later went to a neighbor’s place where she narrated the story.

The complaint had blood on her legs and clothes. She was treated at the hospital.
