Chikomba RDC receives rig after 4-year legal battle
CHIVHU-Chikomba Rural District Council (RDC) has finally taken charge of a rig it bought in 2019 for ZWL$ 8 million after a four-year legal battle with the supplier.
The rig and a grader were delivered to the local authority a few weeks back and were commissioned by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development Felix Mhona last week.
Mhona commissioned the equipment after Deputy Minister of Health and Childcare John Mangwiro commissioned Mpatsi Clinic.
Mashonaland East Permanent Secretary for Devolution Tavabarira Kutamahufa, Zanu PF candidate for Chikomba West Tatenda Mavetera attended the commissioning.
Council Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bullen Chiwara confirmed the development to The Mirror.
“I can confirm that the rig we procured for ZWL$ 8 million in 2019 was finally delivered to the local authority on Monday last week. The delay in delivery is owed to a misunderstanding between the local authority and the supplier who had delivered a machine that did not meet the standards that we were expecting. We had to engage lawyers for the rig to be delivered,” said Chiwara.
