CHIKOMBA – Chikomba District Acting Department of Agricultural, Technical and Extension Services (Agritex) Officer
Cosmas Ratsakatika (56) has retired serving after the department for 30 years. He retired on February 28, this year, and a farewell party was held at his homestead in Nharira last Thursday.
The farewell was attended by hundreds including Government department heads as the District Development Coordinator (DDC) Michael Mariga and Agritex officers.
Ratsakatika told the commemoration that he retired early to rest and focus on his farm.
Speakers said Ratsakatika is the brains behind the Best Extension Worker of the Year awards that recognize Agritex ward officers for their work and innovation. The awards are only held in Chikomba.
Mariga described Ratsakatika’s retirement as a huge loss to the district as he was a determined hard worker.
“It is really sad that Ratsakatika decided to go on any early retirement, he respected everyone and we never had complaints during his tenure,” said Mariga.
Ratsakatika held several positions in the department in Chikomba as an agricultural extension supervisor, district
livestock production and development officer, a position he held for 15 years.
He also served as a livestock specialist and was appointed acting district Agritex officer June 16, 2022.
