MASVINGO – Touched by the plight of children at Soro Primary School in Gutu who learn under makeshift structures because the roofs were damaged by a hailstorm, newly installed Chief Munyikwa, born Kirion Rashamira has launched a disaster fund for the school.
In order to lead by example Chief Munyikwa kicked off the fund by donating US$100 from his own pocket. The launch took place at the school on Friday last week.

UNICEF also donated a tent that accommodates two classrooms.
The disaster befell the school on February 21, 2023 barely three months after Munyikwa’s installation. A ferocious hailstorm destroyed asbestos and zinc sheets from seven classrooms.

Children from the affected classrooms are conducting lessons outside while some are using the damaged classrooms.
Chief Munyikwa urged all progressive citizens and organizations to join him in his vision to see a great Munyikwa during his tenure of office.
“Let us bury our differences and use our energy to build Zimbabwe”, said Chief Munyikwa.
Gutu Development Forum leading member, Charles Mushangwe said, “the Chief deserves our support, his clarity of vision is great”.
