GUTU- Chief Chitsa of Gutu East born Nyika Chibvongodze, has allegedly summoned two Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members to his court for allegedly putting up posters on an abandoned toilet.
The two members, Enock Jonasi and Taison Hwingiri confirmed the matter to The Mirror.
Jonasi said they boycotted the court which was supposed to have been heard yesterday (Monday) as they are innocent.
“We decided not to go because we have not committed any crime. He (Chief Chitsa) claimed the disused toilet belongs to another villager. We believe these are his tricks of exploiting us as he charges US$20 to anyone he summons to his court,” said Jonasi.
Chief Chitsa denied the allegations when contacted for a comment.
“Where did you get that information from? Who gave you that report? I don’t know anything about what you are saying. I am not even around. Tell those people to stop implicating people in cases they are not involved in,” said Chief Chitsa.
Jonasi said they were summoned to the chief’s court by his secretary Hardlife Makumbe on Thursday last without a written notice.
He said they bumped into the chief on Thursday around 2 pm near Mondo Primary School as they were putting up posters for the constituency candidate Gift Gonese, Ward 10 candidate, Samuel Mudzova and party’s presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa. They were accompanied by Mudzvova and three other supporters.
Jonasi alleged that the chief told them that the abandoned toilet they were putting their posters on belonged to someone. The chief then left and the two members were later summoned to his court.
Efforts to get a comment from Makumbe were futile.
