Chief Bere forms drought relief committee

MASVINGO – Chief Bere of Masvingo has formed a drought relief committee comprising his court, clerics, councillors and village heads to ensure inclusivity and fair distribution of the Presidential Drought Relief maize.
The chief’s spokesperson Adnos Chikomo told The Mirror that the committee was put in place to ensure that the needy, child headed families and people with disabilities (PWD) receive the maize and there is no politicisation.
He added that the Chief is also upgrading silos and receiving technical guidance from the Social Services Department.
“We are leveraging this opportunity to enhance our Zunde raMambo programme by upgrading our silos and initiating community support efforts to ensure sustainability through internal initiatives,” Said Chikomo.
Chief Bere received his share of the Presidential Drought Relief maize early this month.
