CHIBHORANI TALK
WITH SEKURU TAURAI

Yes, some of you Chibhoraniland citizens do remember, don’t you? I am sure you still remember the days of the napkin. I am talking here of the baby napkin. That soft white and fluffy piece of cloth that was used by mothers to cover the bottom of their babies to catch their soft poop and urine. You see, normally babies don’t warn their mothers when they are going to relieve themselves in solid or liquid form. So this piece of cloth was quite handy. Mothers had to keep a good number of napkins because babies relieve themselves quite often day and night.
Kare haagari ari kare. Yesterday will not always remain yesterday but is replaced by today. So the napkin was eventually replaced and what replaced it was the pamper. For your own information the pamper was created after American researcher Victor Mills got fed up of changing the napkin of his newborn grandchild and gave his fellow researchers at P&G the task of coming up with a disposable napkin. The name ‘’pampers’’ was coined by one Alfred Goldman who was a Creative Director at Brenton & Bowles. Hey, I may be your old Sekuru of makeyi, born donkey years ago but I do know a few things more than you of today. All I need to do is keep in touch with Sekuru Google and he will tell me almost anything.
Back to today’s topic. What I want to talk about today is the curse of the pamper in our beautiful Chibhoraniland. When this item was first introduced it was the smart way of keeping your baby clean. Disposable it was, no need for washing. Mothers used to have a torrid time every time it rained as they could not dry their nappies outside. However, the pamper came with a curse but let me point out that the curse is actually man-made. Walk around especially in urban residential areas and you will not fail to see used pampers scattered all over or in heaps that can be a source of an unacceptable stench. Come rain season a lot of these pampers will be washed away to drinking water sources where they will be a cause of water pollution. Here we are then forced to purchase more chemicals in order to purify the contaminated water. You will also witness stray dogs opening these pampers to access the poop inside for a delicious meal. Even along highways and roads you will not fail to see used pampers. In the end we are faced by the curse of the used pamper. Fellow citizens, let us find ways of disposing used pampers before our country Chibhoraniland turns into used Pamperland. Ndangoti ndizvitaurewo ini Sekuru Taurai.
