Catholic schools’ games take off on Friday

Masvingo – Roman Catholic Church run secondary schools are converging at Gokomere High School in Masvingo on Friday for the Catholic Games and Choral competitions.
The event which will run under the theme “Enlarge the space of your tent” will start on Friday and close on Saturday.
Masvingo Diocese Education Secretary, Fr Samson Mutsvanga confirmed the event that will be attended by 19 secondary schools from across the diocese.
“We are sure that all 19 Catholic secondary schools from the diocese will attend the event. There will be all ball games disciplines and other games like chess and darts.
“Competitions will start on Friday afternoon, there will be a mass on Saturday morning at 8am and the event will be officially opened thereafter.
“The first five choirs will proceed to the National Catholic Schools Association Competitions to be held this September in Gokwe,” he said.
Prizes will be given to outstanding teams and individuals in the top three.
Last year the Catholic Games and music competitions were held at Berejena Mission in Chivi.
