BUHERA – Buhera Rural District Council has adopted a draft masterplan one of whose key objectives is to do away with blair toilets at the growth point and other major business centres in the district.
The masterplan will guide land use planning, development and management for 20 years.
The masterplan was adopted in June, Buhera RDC chairperson Thomas Matsenhura has confirmed.
“One of the key proposals is to establish and upgrade water-borne reticulated sewerage system connected to sewer stabilisation ponds in Murambinda, Birchenough and Muzokomba and do away with the use of blair toilets.
“The full council meeting sat on 26 June to adopt the draft Masterplan and it has since been submitted to the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing for review,” said Matsenhura.
The Masterplan proposes to establish two polyclinics in Murambinda which will offer primary healthcare services such as general check-ups, vaccinations and essential treatments.
The plan also proposes at least two health posts per ward, 38 new clinics within the district and a hospital at Muzokomba Business Centre.
It also proposes to promote tourism and in particular places like Matendera Monuments, Dinhidza Ruins and Caves, Mureri Hills Khoisan paintings, Save sand Beaches, Dzapasi Assembly Point and Gombe mountains.
Murambinda Irrigation Scheme will be expanded to ensure full sustainable use of Marovanyati Dam.
