Buhera man scalded after goats destroy neighbour’s crops

BUHERA- Magistrate Poterai Gwezhira has slapped a Buhera woman with a 15 months jail term after she scalded her neighbour on the face with hot water after his goats had destroyed her crops.
Ruth Vurudzai (45) of Mapingure Village under Headman Betera in Buhera scalded Aaron Musadza and he sustained injuries on the face, neck and back.
She appeared before Magistrate Gwezhira on Thursday and pleaded guilty to contravening Section 89 (1) (a) of the Criminal Codification and Reform Act, assault.
Magistrate Gwezhira slapped Vurudzai with a 15-month jail term and suspended 10 months on condition of good behaviour.
The incident happened on December 2, 2022 at around 6pm.
It was the State case that Musadza went to Vurudzai’s homestead to see the damage done by his goats which had strayed into her yard and destroyed crops.
Vurudzai scolded Musadza and labeled him a witch who had intentionally let his goats graze in her field. She then took hot water and poured it on Musadza’s face, neck and back.
