Buhera Development Forum raises US$3,5k for clinic

BUHERA – Buhera Development Forum, an association of local residents and those in the Diaspora has donated US$3 500 for the construction of Zinhinga Clinic under Chief Makumbe in Buhera.
The clinic could not be completed for the last 10 years because of financial challenges.
The donation was handed over to Zinhinga Community Clinic Project chairperson Nyasha Mugwadi at a function held at Kusuba Village under Chief Makumbe on Saturday.
John Makumbe the Forum chair handed over the donation. In a display of unity of purpose, people from diverse backgrounds including politicians attended the function and hailed the donation.
There was Zanu PF MP for Buhera West Soul Dzuma, the CCC MP for Marondera Caston Mateu, and traditional leaders including Chief Makumbe.
Government departments were also represented and have been supportive of the Forum’s initiatives, The Mirror has been told.
Chief Makumbe, a respected traditional leader applauded the donation and described it as life changing for the health sector in the area.
“Buhera has inadequate health facilities and the construction of Zinhinga Clinic will not only serve people in Kusuba Village but the entire constituency,” said Chief Makumbe.
Buhera District Medical director, Dr Shelton Kwiri said he is working with the Forum on a number of projects.
“We are working with the Forum on a number of health initiatives especially on infrastructure. They have handed over materials and money to finish the construction of Zinhinga Clinic in Buhera West,” said Dr Kwiri.
Makumbe who is also a prominent businessman said that the money was raised from the Forum’s local members and those scattered in the Diaspora.
“We took over a project started by villagers more than ten years ago but we were facing financial challenges. We have 220 members and we mobilised money following numerous requests from traditional and political leaders to assist.
“We raised US$3,533 that has been used to buy roofing sheets, door frames and doors, window frames and pens, paint, cement and pay labour,” said Makumbe.
This is the second major project that the Forum has supported after raising US$4 000 for people living with disabilities.
Some prominent members of the Forum are Professor Vongai Nyawo, Dr Kuridza, Sheunesu Kurasha, businessman Elijah Mawoyo, Peter Manyere and Emmanuel Bhukwa.https://masvingomirror.com/
