Buhera boy (13) drowns in Dewure River


BUHERA – The body of a 13-year-old boy from Gwangwa Village under Chief Chamutsa in Ward 33, Birchenough who drowned while swimming in Dewure River was found 4km away at the confluence of Dewure and Save River.

The body of Jefter Mufundirwa was found on Sunday after he drowned on Tuesday.

The body was found by a man who was checking on his fish traps after searches by the Police sub aqua team and villagers failed to yield anything. The body was buried on the same day.

Efforts to get a comment from Police were futile.

Ward 33 Councillor Successful Nkomo however confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm that the boy’s body was discovered today (Sunday) by a man who was checking on his fish traps along the river. We rushed to the scene and identified the body as that of Mufundirwa,” said Nkomo.
