CHIKOMBA-Reigning Zimbabwe Junior Chess Champion Grace Zvarebwa (11) is in Egypt for the African Youth Chess Championship tournament.
She left the country last week for the tournament. The tournament started on Thursday last week and runs until Saturday.
Chivhu Chess Club coach and founder Godknows Dembure confirmed the development to The Mirror.
He expressed gratitude to everyone who assisted Grace financially.
“I am happy we made it to the African championships in Cairo, Egypt. I extend my gratitude to Chief Chivese for helping us to get funds from different people and organizations.
“I also want to thank the management of Heritage Book Shop, Ndlovu a public relations officer of Chivhu ZRP and Honorable Felix Mhona MP for Chikomba East for assisting us with funds to make this trip a success,” said Dembure.
Grace is a Form 1 pupil at Liebenberg High School in Chivhu. She has several local, national and regional medals.
