Bradburn wins N Richards Heroes trophy

MASVINGO – N Richards Group (NRG) Bradburn and Cash n Carry branch in Masvingo has won the inaugural Supreme Brands and NRG tournament held at Victoria Junior and High school grounds on Sunday.
The team was crowned champions of the 12 team tournament after winning in all its matches in the group first and went on to defeat Admin and Stock in the final.
Bradburn branch received a trophy and a soccer kit provided by the tournament’s main Supreme Brands. Admin and Stock received silver medals.
Chivi and Chiredzi branches came third and fourth respectively and received bronze medals. They were graded based on points and scores accumulated in the groups stages.
The 12 teams drawn from the company’s Southern region were grouped into four groups of three teams.
NRG Sports Director Bryce Gozhora told The Mirror that this was a maiden tournament and they will include the Northern Region next time.
“The Northern region has what they call the Independence cup and we hope to have matches with them in the future,” he said
Munyaradzi Munhenga from NRG Cash and Carry in Masvingo was the tournament’s top goal scorer. Everton Nyambi from Admin and Stock Take in Masvingo was adjudged goalkeeper of the tournament. Frank Chirwa from Bradburn, Masvingo was adjudged player of the tournament. They all received jerseys from Supreme Brands.
Supreme Brands contributed three team kits, winners kit and trophy and silver and bronze medals, Eversharp supplied six team jerseys, Intaba Trading donated gold medals and Grand Foods contributed two team jerseys.
Supreme Brands Manager Phanos Bandamira said they are a proud partner of NRG and they will work together to make next year’s edition bigger and better.
“We have a good connection with NRG and this partnership brought us here. It has been a good tournament with winners and losers and the next event will be even bigger,” he said
The Organizing Chairperson Jimmy Chivore also showed gratitude towards the hard work everyone put into making the tournament a success.
“I would like to express profound gratitude to our directors and managers for affording us an opportunity to socialize through sport.”
“I would also like to thank all the NRG branches for participating in this maiden tournament. We are looking forward to more tournaments like this,” he said
