CHIREDZI –Takudzwa Chinyama (8) whose eyesight has deteriorated keeping him out of school is appealing for US$250 to undergo cataract extraction in both eyes.
Takudzwa can barely see anything that is at most 30 centimetres away from him and this has kept him out of school.
His aunt Sandra Mukumbo told The Mirror Helpline that she has no source of income to fund the operation while her husband provides for the family through piece jobs.
She said the extraction will be done at Sekuru Kaguvi Eye Hospital in Harare. The US$250 caters for the operation and transport costs.
“Takudzwa developed the condition when he was 19 months old. His parents divorced and have since remarried. I am the one looking after him. I am appealing for financial assistance from well-wishers so that he can undergo the extraction. His desire is to go back to school and study to be a banker,” she said.
Those who want to assist Takudzwa can contact his aunt on 0779977105 or The Mirror Helpline on 0716895703/0775691380.
