Chivhu – The National Blood Service Midlands Provincial Recruiting Officer on Monday told The Mirror that their blood stocks have decreased due to the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.
Aggrey Ngazana said that the number of blood donors has dropped sharply and the supplies are now coming from just 25% of the donors and it is only enough for emergencies.
“Ever since the closure of schools due to Covid-19 in March, the number of blood donors has dropped. Some 75% of our donors are school children hence the lockdown has severely affected us.
“We are now saving just the little for emergencies,” said Ngazana.
He said this from Chivhu Community Hall where people were donating blood. https://masvingomirror.com
