CHIREDZI – Road constructing company, Bitumen has completed rehabilitation of a 20km stretch of road along Tanganda – Ngundu Road, Masvingo Provincial Road Engineer, Robert Peter Mukome has said.
The stretch is between the 103 and 123 km peg between Croco Motors and Malilangwe.
“The stretch is fully operational since June 1, 2022 and is now opened to motorists,” said Mukome.
Ngundu – Tanganda is one of the roads being rehabilitated under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP) and at least US$6,8 million was used in the rehabilitation.
Bitumen World Surfacing manager, Cuthbert Gonhovi said the road is 100% complete.
Gonhovi urged the Government to rehabilitate roads after every eight years to sustain them for long periods.
Motorists who spoke to The Mirror expressed satisfaction at the work and hailed ZINARA for disbursing funds for the road.
“We are happy with Government over this project. The stretch of road had become a long black spot with many lives lost,” said Tichaona Gunde.
