Bikita’s longest serving councillor Makuvaza dies

BIKITA – Bikita’s longest serving councillor, alderman Chaitwa Makuvaza (85) is no more.
Makuvaza who served as Ward 5 councillor from 1980 until he voluntarily stepped down in 2018 breathed his last on Tuesday after a long battle with sugar diabetes.
Pelagia Matekwe, Makuvaza’s daughter-in-law confirmed the death to The Mirror and said burial will be on Saturday.
Bikita Rural District Council (RDC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Chibhi said the death is a huge loss to the Bikita as Makuvaza was a champion of development who served with dedication throughout his stay in office.
Makuvaza was born on September 16, 1937 and attended Mazungunye Primary School before working as a shop attendant in Zvishavane.
He is survived by 13 children, more than 35 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.https://masvingomirror.com
