Bikita Minerals donates to Zimuto girl

MASVINGO- Bikita Minerals has donated US$500 to Perseverance Marashauta, the 16-year-old Zimuto girl who is due to undergo an emergency knee amputation surgery at Masvingo General Hospital this week.
Bikita Minerals joins a long list of other well-wishers who have donated to the girl since The Mirror published her plea for help on Friday last week.
Bikita Minerals Manager, David Mwanza handed over the donation to Perseverances mother Judith Matsilele at The Mirror offices on Wednesday afternoon after visiting Perseverance at Masvingo General Hospital.
The money is needed to buy drugs and sundries for the operation and other expenses including food.
He said the companys management was touched by Perseverance’s plight and as part of its Cooporate Social Responsibility of giving back to the community, and thought of extending their hand to the girl.
“We saw the story in The Mirror and thought of help the girl. It is not because we have a lot of money but it is part of our culture to give back to the community,” said Mwanza.
Matsilele said she is delighted and short of words by the overwhelming response from well-wishers who have intervened to save her child.
Marashauta of Gwati Village in Zimuto is suffering from a non -healing chronic right foot ulcer. The ulcer is under her foot and has eaten the flesh away leaving her bone and has been admitted at Masvingo General Hospital for the past month.
Perseverances theatre bill will be covered by the department of Social Welfare. Her mother survives on piece jobs and cannot foot the bill.
