Bikita man arrested for ‘faking’ abduction

MASVINGO – John Mupanduki an MDC A member who aspires to be the party’s Bikita East candidate in the 2023 Parliamentary elections has been arrested for allegedly faking an abduction.
Mupanduki’s abduction story went viral on social media last week. He alleged that he was abducted by unidentified men on January 8, 2022 at Nyika Growth Point and was dumped in Mashava on January 9 2021.


The Mirror interviewed Mupanduki last week.
However, Police from the Law and Order Section are disputing his story and are insisting that it is a fabrication. He has been arrested and brought to court
Mupanduki appeared before Masvingo Magistrate Patience Madondo last week after spending the day and night in Police cells.
The State further alleges that Mupanduki used his phone to knowingly lie to the law and order department.


Mupanduki who is being represented by Martin Mureri of Matutu and Mureri Legal Practitioners was granted RTGS$5 000 bail on conditions that he resides at his given address and reports at Bikita Police every fortnight.
