MWENEZI –Bikita district dominated the National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH) Masvingo Provincial Athletics competitions and has the highest number of athletes’ proceeding to the national competitions. Bikita District has 25 athletes going to the national competitions.
The competitions were held at Mwenezi Government High School last Friday to select 97 track and field athletes who will represent Masvingo at the national competitions slated for March 22 and 23, 2023 at Peterhouse College in Marondera.
Athletes who scooped gold in track and field events are the ones proceeding to the national finals.
Mwenezi District came second with 15 athletes going to the national competitions while Masvingo District came third with 13 athletes.
Chiredzi came fourth and is contributing 12 athletes. Gutu was divided into two districts and Gutu South came fifth with 10 gold winners going to the nationals.
Chivi has nine athletes and is sixth. Gutu North and Zaka districts came are tied on seventh place with seven gold winners each.
