Beitbridge school yet to receive Old Mutual Quiz prize

BEITBRIDGE – The Roman Catholic- run St Mary’s High in Beitbridge is yet to receive the Old Mutual Schools Quiz competition prize it won in May last year, Two Nations has confirmed.

St Mary’s which came tops in Mat South and went on to represent the province at the national competitions where it came first beating schools from the country’s nine other provinces. The school team won certificates, laptops and a Honda Fit.

The school head Augustine Zhou confirmed the matter to Two Nations. 

“We won the car last year and it was supposed to have been delivered before the end of December but we are still waiting. It has been long and we are losing hope,” said Zhou.

Efforts to get a comment from Old Mutual Group CEO Samuel Matsekete were futile. 

The quiz competition was held on Zoom because of Covid-19 restrictions.

The other three schools which made it to the finals are Sanyati Baptist High of Mash West, Daramombe High of Mash East and Pamushana High of Masvingo.

Pamushana came second, Sanyati High third and Daramombe fourth.
