Beitbridge Mayor’s half Marathon set for this weekend

BEITBRIDGE- Preparations for the Beitbridge Mayor’s half marathon is which are going to be held on November 16, 2022 are gathering momentum as the day approaches. The half marathon will run under the theme ‘Beitbridge my home, my smart city, running against litter’. The platform for registration has already opened at the Municipality of Beitbridge.
Town clerk Loud Ramakgapola said the main reason for this race is to raise awareness on littering and keeping Beitbridge. The marathon organisers are expecting 700 athletes from 16 the age years and above. The registration fee is ZAR50 or US$3 and the platform for registration is now open. The will be 10km race, 21km and 5km power walk. The Beitbridge community is already making contributions to sponsor the marathon.
“Young people and those above the age of 65 years will participate for free so everyone has the chance to be a part of this competition. Road shows being held to spread information about the marathon. The next the marathon will be held in June next year because that’s when the weather will be favorable,” said Ramakgapola.
Event coordinator Raniel Ndou said the will be 16 water points during the race are cyclists are going to be the curtain raisers.
