BEITBRIDGE – The Municipality of Beitbridge (MOB) has allocated Beitbridge Business Expo Association (BBEA), the leading business group in the border town a piece of land that will serve as a community showground.
This will become the first showground for Zimbabwe’s largest border town.
BBEA is known for organising such annual events as Beitbridge Business Expo and Beitbridge Corporate and People’s Choice Awards which are also attended by people from across the border in Musina.
BBEA chairperson and Lanaheil Investments director, Dr Anna Muleya confirmed the development to Two Nations and said the ground was allocated in January this year.
The proposed structure of the ground is that it will have Expo Committee offices, a stadium, a cattle holding pen, ablution facilities and exhibition halls.
The showground whose size has not been disclosed to Two Nations will be 5km from town along the Beitbridge – Bulawayo Road.
“The plan is to host this year’s Beitbridge Business Expo at the show ground in July. We are raising funds for the development of the grounds. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was drawn up between us and the Municipality of Beitbridge,” she said.
She said a showground is a facility that has been missing in the town’s infrastructure.
