CHIPINGE- A Waterfalls based 23-year-old man has appeared before Chipinge magistrate Poterai Gwezhira for allegedly attempting to traffic a 14-year-old juvenile to an unknown place in Nyanga.
The state represented by Timothy Katsande said the accused; Hastings Gudhlanga (23) who resides in Waterfalls, Harare visited the victim’s mother sometime in July this year and stayed with them for two weeks.
Gudhlanga who is the victim’s cousin allegedly hatched a plan to traffic the 14-year-old from her place of residence at Mapari Rest Resort, Dewure to an unknown place in Nyanga.
It is alleged that on the 14th of the same month at around 2000hrs, Gudhlanga deceived the victim alleging that her parents were abusing her and as such he wanted to go with her to Mutare.
On the following day, Gudhlanga sneaked from Tendai Marima’s custody and took the victim to Mapari bus stop where he gave her US$ 10 for transport and an Econet line which they were going to use for communication. He ordered the victim to wait for his arrival at Nyanyadzi.
It is alleged that on the same day Gudhlanga met the victim at Nyanyadzi and ordered her not to communicate with anyone.
Gudhlanga gave the victim three mobile numbers of which on one of them she was supposed to call one, Kudzai Simango, who stays in Nyanga when she arrived in Mutare.
He then assisted the victim to board a commuter omnibus to Mutare and again ordered her not to call him to avoid call tracking.
Instead of calling the number she was directed to call first, the victim called another number from the three she had been given and one, Joyce Makause suspected the victim’s visit and contacted her mother who then informed her that she was missing from home
Gudhlanga was remanded to Friday 11 (tomorrow). https://masvingomirror.com
