ZVISHAVANE – Police Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi was in Zvishavane two weeks ago where he urged villagers to form village anti-stock theft committees and brand their cattle as a way of thwarting the crime which has become a headache throughout the country.
He launched the campaign at Mazhou Village under Chief Masunda. The chief attended the campaign.
Zvishavane is one of the districts most hard hit by stock theft.
According to statistics released by Nyathi, ZRP Zvishavane recorded 261 cases of stock theft in 2022 and 260 last year.
“There are organized syndicates that are wiping out our cattle and we are delighted that measures have been put in place by ZRP to counter this,” said Luckson Nyoni.
Chief Masunda urged villagers to forge strong working relations with the Police.
