CHIPINGE TIMES REPORTER
RUSAPE- Three armed robbers broke into a Delta Beverages manufacturing plant in Rusape and got away with US$43 after finding the safe empty.
Manicaland Police Spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the robbery which occurred on Friday night to the Chipinge Times.
He said they have since launched investigations and appealed for information from the public.
Muzondo said the armed trio stole US$43 from Leo Mutume, a Delta truck driver after finding the safe empty.
Circumstances are that the trio gained entry into the premises around 3 pm and attacked Cosmas Butawo (57), a Guardian Security employee.
They took away his Borrotta service pistol. One of the armed robbers then assaulted him with an iron rod all over before tying his hand using shoe laces.
The robbers proceeded to the guard room and tied up two more security guards, Brighton Nyamangwanda (37) and Nyasha Mundagowa (25).
Mutume was seen peeping from his truck and the armed robbers apprehended him. They then took US$43 from him. They proceeded to the safe which they blew open.
The safe was empty and the robbers left in a huff. The security guards and Mutume managed to untie themselves and phoned plant manager Augustine Gambiza who filed a police report.
