BIKITA – Robbers on Saturday night shot dead a popular taxi driver Darlington Madzokere who operates at Nyika Growth Point leaving the community shell shocked.
Madzokere’s brother Nyengeterai Madzokere confirmed the death to The Mirror, but said events leading to his brother’s death are still sketchy.
The suspects were driving a sky blue Toyota Honda Fit with registration number AFO3359 and they are said to have escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

The Mirror however, gathered that the incident happened at around 6 pm as Madzokere was buying food at Food Villa Restaurant which is at Glow (Mapamba) Service Station.
A gang of four men with three armed with pistols arrived pretending as if they wanted to get petrol at the service station and had a scuffle with petrol attendants ordering them to surrender all the money they had on them.
Guests in the restaurant heard the noise and they ran outside to see Madzokere at the front.

The robbers shot him 3 times in the stomach and drove away leaving him bleeding and lying on the ground.
He was rushed to Silveira Mission Hospital and was transferred to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where he died at around 1400hrs yesterday.https://masvingomirror.com
