CHIPINGE โ€“ The Albino Charity Organization of Zimbabwe (ALCOZ) is commemorating a belated International Albinism Awareness Day at Chipinge Country Club, Chipinge on Saturday.
ALCOZ Founder and Executive Director Loveness Mainato confirmed the commemorations to Chipinge Times.
She said the commemoration runs under the theme: Inclusion is Strength.
“We are holding commemorations in Chipinge this Saturday. The commemoration is held on June 13 every year. After the initial celebrations, we hold commemorations in all provinces.
โ€œThis affords us a chance to interact and discuss issues affecting people living with albinism. We will interact with them about stigmatization, discrimination and other issues affecting them. They will also receive sunhats, lip balms, sunscreen lotions and sanitary wear,โ€ she said.
ALCOZ Project and Programmes Manager George Mafararikwa said they are expecting people from across Manicaland to attend the commemorations.
He said they would also hold discussions with government officials and other stakeholders.
