ZVISHAVANE – In what may give hope to Zimbabweans for fair, non-politicised food distribution, Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development , Anxious Masuka personally visited food distribution centers in Zvishavane and assured villagers that everyone is going to be assisted throughout the El Nino induced drought.
Masuka was at Mapanzure on Saturday and he was accompanied by Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, July Moyo.
Masuka saw food aid being distributed to the most vulnerable i.e.; elderly people, People with Disabilities (PWDs) and children.
After the visit to Mapanzure, Masuka took time to tour the community’s nutrition garden and hailed the community for such a development
“I am very happy with your gardens. I am encouraging other communities to establish similar gardens to boost food security,” said Masuka.
July Moyo emphasized Government’s commitment to ensuring that all receive food aid.
“No community is going to be left behind in the face of the El Nino induced drought. I am calling citizens to work together to build a resilient and sustainable future for the country with the rainy season under way. The Government is hopeful that the worst of the drought is behind us and the country can begin to recover,” said Moyo.
However, some local residents expressed concern that the food aid will not be enough because the numbers of those affected is huge.
