CHIPINGE-Eight candidates have applied for the vacant Chipinge Town Secretary post, Council chairman Lovemore Mukwapati has said.
He told Chipinge Times they closed for application on Friday, and the interviews will be held soon.
The post became vacant on December 3, 2021, after the dismissal of Susan Dube for gross incompetence. She had held the post for nine years.
“We have eight candidates for the post and we closed submission of CV on Friday. We are shortlisting the candidates today (Monday) and afterwards we will come up with a date for interviews,” he said.
Town treasury James Mutemera has been holding the position since April 2021, when Dube was suspended from work.
Chipinge Times could not immediately establish if Mutemera had also submitted for the post.
Dube was fired after a three member tribunal of Abraham Kudzanai Maguchu, Langton Mhungu, and Tariro Tazvitya found her guilty.
She also appeared in court on charges of abuse of office for awarding a residential stand to an attaché under the staff quota and stealing PVC pipes from the local authority.
Chipinge Resident Magistrate Franklin Mkwananzi cleared her of the charges on September 29, 2021.
