Chikomba – Six different men from Chief Neshangwe’s area in Chikomba have been convicted of raping a mentally retarded woman and each sentenced to jail terms ranging from 10 to 14 years.
The six received their sentences on Thursday last week from Chivhu Regional Magistrate Fadzai Mtombeni.
The woman was raped sometime in 2020 when she went to stay with her parents in Vhiki Village under Chief Neshangwe after she became mentally ill. The cases came out in the open when she got well and went back to join her husband.
She then told her husband about the rape cases.

The husband reported the case to the Police resulting in the arrest of the suspects.
The convicted persons are Hilman Madomasi (49), Enock Kanda (31), Spencer Chimina (42), Monday Gurura (58) and Johanisi Chinembiri (21). The five reside in Vhiki Village under Chief Neshangwe.
The sixth convicted person is Last Zifa who got 14 years.
Madomasi dragged the woman into a bush and raped her before running away. He left the complainant crying. The complainant did not tell anyone.

Kanda raped the complainant around February 2020 as she was passing by a stream. The complainant cried out for help but no one heard her. She did not tell anyone.
In October 2020 the complainant was raped by Chimina after she had gone to the garden to fetch water.
Gurura raped the complainant as they were coming from the farm and Johanisi raped the complainant as she walked from Sadza Growth point.https://masvingomirror.com
