5 Mwenezi men steal mining chemicals from DRC bound truck

MWENEZI- Five men from Mwenezi have been convicted for stealing 260 litres of mining solvent from a Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) bound haulage truck.

One the five, one is the haulage truck driver and a Zimbabwean. They were fined RTG$3 000 each by Resident Magistrate Honesty Musiiwa on Wednesday or they will spend six months in prison for the crime.
The truck was coming from South Africa going to Tenke Mine in DRC.

The convicted men are Avan Samson (37), the truck driver who resides in Harare, Lundi Business Center residents
namely, Tavonga Zizhou (46), Tawanda Allan Makamure (29), Lazarus Moyo (35) and Stephen Ngwenya (33).
They all pleaded guilty as charged.

It is the State case that on August 10, 2020, at 8am, the five made a plan to steal from a Lakewood tanker truck and they proceeded to a bushy area in Munhundishe Village in Mwenezi where they drained the mining solvent from the tanker registration numbers C557PJGP, RLM498GP and RLM499GP.
