Masvingo – The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has released the 2021 Grade 7 results which has a 41,1% pass rate.
School heads have been advised to collect the results from their respective regional offices from Monday February 7, 2022, according to a statement in the hands of The Mirror.
A ZIMSEC statement in the hands of The Mirror shows that the pass rate jumped by a 4,02% up from 37,11% pass rate in 2020. The statement attributed the jump to a number of factors including increased learning time in 2021 compared to 2020 and this was due to a number of interventions made by the Ministry.
The statement also said that there was longer teaching and learning calendar in 2021 compared to 2020.The introduction of continuous assessment was also a factor in the higher pass rate said the statement.
There was a higher pass rate in indigenous languages.
The number of students who sat for the exams however, fell by 0,6% from 327 559 in 2020 to 325 573 in 2021 and this is attributed to early pregnancies, Covid19 induced economic hardships and the introduction of the Continuous Assessment Learning Activities (CALAs) which was initially not received positively by some candidates. https://masvingomirror.com
